Encircle alternative: the Encircle home inventory app has shut down. What now?
Encircle ended its free home inventory app for homeowners on December 17, 2025. Here are the alternatives for keeping your home inventory, including free ones.

If you used Encircle to keep a home inventory for insurance, you may have found you can't sign in anymore. Encircle's help center says support for its home inventory app ended on December 17, 2025, and that after that date users "will be unable to login to the app and your home inventory data will be inaccessible." Encircle now focuses on software for restoration contractors and insurance professionals. Its consumer app store pages may still look current, but the help center notice is the one to go by.

What to know about BoxTrack before you switch
- It's new, and it's a web app: there's no App Store download. On iPhone you add it to your home screen.
- It can't import an Encircle export. You start fresh by snapping your rooms, and a photo of a whole shelf or open drawer can give several items at once.
- The free plan is 1 box with up to 5 items. A whole home needs a paid plan, with a 72-hour free trial.

Why this comparison+
So if you're looking for an Encircle alternative, here's an honest list. We make BoxTrack, and it's one of the options. It isn't the right pick for everyone, and we say who else to look at.
What Encircle was good at+
Encircle was built around insurance claims. You photographed rooms and items, and it produced reports shaped the way claims adjusters like them. That's the bar a replacement should meet: photos, values, rooms, and a report you can hand an insurer.
Your options+
NAIC Home Inventory (free). Made by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, the group of state insurance regulators, for homeowners and renters. It's free, with no upsell, on iPhone and Android, and it organizes by room or category with barcode scanning. Reviews in the app stores mention bugs, especially with photos and exports on larger inventories, so keep a backup. Best if you want free and neutral.
HomeZada. A home management app (inventory plus maintenance and projects) on iPhone, Android and the web, with a free plan that includes home inventory and AI that picks out items in photos, according to the company. Best if you want to manage the whole house, not just the inventory.
Itemtopia. A consumer inventory app on iPhone, Android, Mac, Windows and the web, with AI image recognition added in 2026, barcode and QR scanning, and insurance reports on its paid plan. Best if you want warranties and receipts tracked too.
BoxTrack. A home inventory app that runs in any phone's browser, with nothing to download. Make a box for each room, closet or bin and snap each thing. AI fills in the names, quantities and replacement values, and the photo stays with each item. It keeps used and replacement values, serial numbers and purchase dates, makes a PDF report with every photo and value, and exports to Excel. It also does what most home inventory apps don't: QR labels for boxes and bins, and a box-by-box list for moving, storage and customs. Best if you also move, store things in boxes, or want photo AI to do the typing.
A spreadsheet plus a photo album. Free and permanent. See home inventory app vs a spreadsheet.
Lessons from Encircle+
Whatever you choose, keep a copy of your inventory outside the app: a PDF or a spreadsheet saved somewhere you control. Apps change and shut down. Your insurance claim shouldn't depend on one company's servers. BoxTrack's Excel and PDF exports exist for exactly that.
